Made for long-distance, kitchen-sink bicycle touring and adventure cycling or for those that simply want a super tough yet tubeless ready set of handbuilt wheels!
The Velocity Cliffhanger is HANDS DOWN my favourite rim in their line up; who else offers a high end modern, 25mm internal tubeless ready touring rim that will take you where you want to go?!? No one that’s who! Velocity to the rescue.
I’ve paired this set up to Bitex BX207 series six bolt touring hubs meaning you benefit from increased bearing count and bore size, steel free hubs and steel axles where appropriate; this is one TOUGH pair of hubs that just refuse to die all the while being perfectly user serviceable.
A custom process has removed the black coating on these Sapim Race double butted spokes to give a unique ‘raw’ stainless finish in dull silver; real farmyard feel without the awful quality of low end spokes! An increased spoke count of 36h both front and rear means you can load these right up and I’m happy to place a 150kg total system load on this pair.
Continuing the USA theme and to complement the custom finish on the spokes then I’ve used Simworks RAW brass nipples on this wheelset; a flash of gold in the sunlight as you ride; keep em polished if you want that glint or let them develop a lovely patina over time to tell the story of where you and your bike have been; a unique wheelset for the travels ahead and now at a reduced price to boot!
